At Love From America, our projects embody a commitment to equity, cultural exchange, and community-led learning. Each initiative is rooted in place-based exploration and co-created with local partners to foster mutual understanding and sustainable impact.
Our first projects root our work in local knowledge while creating access, improving systemic knowledge, and growing visibility in Zimbabwe. Here's a glimpse into the current work of Love From America.
Ethandweni Children's Home
Matobo, Zimbabwe
Ethandweni Children’s Home provides full-time care, rehabilitation, and support to 42 children in Matobo District, Zimbabwe, while also supporting surrounding communities through early childhood education and health efforts. With funding raised by Global Scholars students, Ethandweni has advanced priorities including transportation, water and kitchen improvements, educational materials, roof repairs, clothing, and food-production infrastructure. The next focus is strengthening social-emotional care through dedicated counseling and healing-centered training for children and staff.
Proyecto Mama Q’ota
Lake Uru Uru · Oruro, Bolivia
This project supports the Uru Uru Team’s work to restore Lake Uru Uru and strengthen opportunities for Indigenous youth and women in Oruro, Bolivia. Our focus is on helping fund a community-led recycling system, restoration through totora phytoremediation, environmental education in local schools, and efforts to secure stronger legal protection for the lake. Together, these efforts address pollution while strengthening local knowledge, leadership, livelihoods, and the community’s long-term relationship with Mama Q'ota.
